  1. Day1 Sinforosa Canyon & Eco Lodge

Please be ready and waiting in the reception area of your hotel for your guide. He will be there to meet you a few minutes before your scheduled pickup time at 8am.

Day 1: Creel to Sinforosa Canyon

This is a canyon packed tour that will allow you to drive through 5 different canyons over 3 days. You’ll be picked up at your hotel in the Magic Town of Creel, and transported through the canyons of Basihuare, Humira and to the very bottom of the Copper Canyon where Urique River runs. After some photo stops, you’ll continue onto the town of Guachochi where you’ll stop at the airport to do a 20 minute flight over Sinforosa Canyon, if you’ve included it as an optional Add-On during the booking process. The canyon views from the small Cessna planes are unbelievable and will make your trip to the Copper Canyon incredibly memorable.

After the flight (if you included it in the tour package), you’ll be driven onto the main overlook of Sinforosa Canyon where you can do a short 30 minute walk to stretch your legs and take some photos, while your Perfect Picnic is set up for you overlooking the canyon. Enjoy your lunch while viewing the canyon, then you are off to see new and exciting views of Sinforosa Canyon as you drive into the heart of it along dirt, switchback roads that end at the small eco hotel where you’ll be spending the night so you can wake up to canyon views. Upon arrival at the eco lodge in the canyon, you’ll check in and freshen up and then you can enjoy a home cooked meal and a glass of wine, while enjoying canyon views from the open dining room (yes, there are flies and bugs, but the view is well worth it so bring your bug spray).

  2. Day2 Sinforosa Canyon Hike & Batopilas Canyon

Day 2: Sinforosa Canyon to Batopilas

The following morning, you’ll rise and shine early to enjoy the cool air and enjoy another home cooked meal using fresh herbs and plants growing in the canyon. Afterwards, you are off on an optional hike to several waterfalls in a pocket canyon before it gets too hot. If you don’t enjoy hiking, not to worry, just sit back and enjoy the views with a cold glass of lemonade.

Around mid day you’ll depart Sinforosa Canyon to begin your drive to Batopilas Canyon. You’ll descend to the very bottom of Batopilas Canyon to the Magic Town of Batopilas, an old silver mining village and the 2nd city in all of Mexico to get electricity. Batopilas is a long, rather than wide town that sits stretched along the river, of about 1500 inhabitants. You should arrive today in time to check into your hotel (hotel not included in tour pricing, but you can include one of our select hotels at time of booking as an optional Add-On, or book any hotel you like on your own) and settle in. We highly recommend you include the Riverside Lodge for tonight as it is an experience in itself and will make your trip more memorable. Your guide will take you to a nearby restaurant where you can order dinner, on your own, with his suggestions.

  3. Day3 Batopilas Sightseeing

    Day 3: Batopilas to Creel

A continental breakfast is included at the Riverside Lodge this morning, if you included it as an optional Add-On during the booking process. After an early breakfast, you’ll be driven out to the Lost Cathedral of Satevo and you can enjoy a visit to the Batopilas Museum if you are interested in history. Lunch will be at a local restaurant on your own, then you can do a 3kms self-guided walk along the old aqueduct to see the tropical birds that nest there, if you are up for it, while your guide drives to the pickup point across the river to wait for you. You’ll return to the upper sierra after your walk, arriving to Creel around 5pmish.

Kokoyome Eco Lodge
Sinforosa Canyon

Because you will be passing through 3 different climate zones on this trip, it is advisable to dress in layers so you can cool down as you get deeper into the canyons. Batopilas sits at just above sea level so it is hot in the winter, and very hot in the summer. Guachochi is upper sierra and cool like Creel. Sinforosa Canyon can be cool in the mornings, but hot during the day. Be sure to bring good hiking boots or hiking shoes with plenty of traction if you plan to hike or walk anywhere.

No, hiking is never mandatory on any of our tours, though this tour is meant for those that want to get out and hike in the canyons without doing a full blown hiking trip, it can also be done by those who want to enjoy the cultural aspect of the trip but who do not hike much. Some walking is required in order to get to some of the out of reach places such as the waterfall in Sinforosa Canyon, or along the aqueduct in Batopilas, but you can opt out of those walks if you prefer.
