URIQUE

Silver Mining Town

Urique Village, at the bottom of Urique Canyon was originally a mining town like Batopilas. It is accessible by dirt road (some of it 4X4 only) from Cerocahui, Bahuichivo, Creel, El Fuerte and Batopilas. Although it doesn't have the architectural charm of Batopilas, it is still a relaxing, laid back village at the bottom of a very impressive canyon.

We usually recommend you stay in Cerocahui and do a day tour to Urique rather than staying there in town, however, if you are so inclined, you will find several small, rural hotels in the village if you do wish to stay there.

We recommend a visit to 'Entre Amigos' if you are going to be hiking on your own or spending any time there at all as they are a very useful outlet for information and know all there is to know about Urique Village, its history and people. They are located near the river at the end of town and offer some cute, rustic rooms too if you are looking to stay a few days.
