DIVISADERO

Train Station with a Great View

Divisadero is really a train stop that overlooks the joining of Tararecua, Urique and Copper Canyons. This view point is likened to the views at Grand Canyon but there is no comparison in features by any means. It's just that you are looking at the very tops of these canyons and they seem endless.

There are some trails along the cliff edge where one can see the Raramuri Ladder that is still used for ascending and descending the canyons, the Balancing Rock, and one can hike into the canyons from here as well should one wish to.

There is a hotel on the rim there and also two other ones about 3 kms down the road at the Posada Barrancas train stop. The prices are high as you are paying for the view so if you can't afford that then just stay in Creel and do a day trip up there in one of the Amigo Trucks or even a Scooter. It's only one hour away from Creel.

The New Cable Car has now finally opened up! Hours are to be daily from 9am to 5pm but they are not running full steam ahead just yet. Some days they are open all day as scheduled and others they are not. So do stop by the new Cable Car in Divisadero when you are in the area and have a look for yourself. Cost will be $250 pesos per adult, kids pay $150 pesos.

Areponapuchi is 4 kms from the Divisadero train stop or .5 kms from the Posada Barrancas train stop. There are budget hotels there if you wish to make your own reservations and as long as you are not traveling during December, March/April (Easter time) or July, these hotels tend to be available as advance reservations are not sought out so much here.
