CEROCAHUI

Gateway to Urique Canyon

Cerocahui is a small mountain town just 1/2 hour from the Bahuichivo train stop. It is nestled in a valley about 45 minutes from the overlook of Urique Canyon and village.

The town is very small but it has a nice mission and a girls boarding school that is constantly being invaded by tourists so it's a wonder the poor things ever learn a thing...

There is a small waterfall in Cerocahui that you can hike to, round-trip, in about 2 hours. There is also horseback riding available but just hanging out in this peaceful area is all you really need.

Bahuichivo is a train stop along the Chepe line from Chihuahua to Los Mochis. There are a few hotels here but it is still a primitive town. Its most important role in the canyons is that it is an access point to both Cerocahui and Urique villages as well as Urique Canyon.
